Our company occasionally has FTP problems with a customer. Sometimes we can't authenticate, and sometimes we authenticate but can't transmit files.
I configured an FTP service on the platform (linux server) we already use to FTP files to this customer. I configured the service with the IP of the customer's server and the username/password used for testing. The availability is always 0% (or a "!") and Response Time says "No Metric Data Available", yet it occassionally records metrics for All Inbound Connections, State ESTABLISHED, and even State FIN_WAIT2.
Am I headed down the right path? My IT co-workers want to know Availability (authentication) of the remote system at least, and at most confirm file transfers are working. (For the latter part, I'm thinking of having them schedule test jobs that receive files to a test folder, then monitoring that file/folder for changes.)
